No Crackdown 2 Confirms Developer
Real Time Worlds "heartbroken" that there won't be a sequel.

UK, September 7, 2007 - One of favourite Xbox 360 titles this year was the stellar leap-and-bound 'em up Crackdown - and not just because it came with a Halo 3 beta key. So, it's with heavy hearts we report that developer Real Time Worlds has confirmed there won't be a sequel.

Speaking to Develop Magazine, producer Phil Wilson said the team is "heartbroken" that there won't be a Crackdown 2 but "Microsoft were a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things".

These "bigger, better things" are likely to be APB, the cops and robbers MMO, and an as yet unannounced secret project. However, don't despair Crackdown fans - it seems the team has learned a lot from its first 360 title.

Wilson revealed that, thanks to the number of fans who stuck their extreme Crackdown stunts up on YouTube, future Real Time Worlds titles will make it much easier for players to share footage: "We want to make it easier to show off what people do. Record something cool and share it with their friends. We're looking at how to integrate that in future."

Yeah but if it means finally APB then bring it on baby! Plus it's not to say it'll never come out.
